This policy explains what data AfriOff collects, why, and how you stay in control. It applies to the www.afrioff.com platform.

1. Data controller

2. Data we collect

We only collect what the service needs to work.

  • Account: e-mail address, and if you provide them, name and phone number.
  • Preferences: city, language, maximum distance, notification choices.
  • Coupons: offers claimed, dates claimed and used.
  • Favourites and reviews you publish.
  • Offer views: we record that an offer was viewed, with your account identifier if you are signed in. This data provides businesses with statistics on their offers.
  • Approximate location derived from your connection, to show offers in your area.

3. What we do not do

  • No banking data is collected: AfriOff processes no payments.
  • Your precise location is never sent to our servers. When you allow geolocation, distance is computed in your browser.
  • We do not sell or rent your data to third parties.
  • No targeted advertising, no advertising trackers.

4. What a business sees

A business sees the number of views, claimed and used coupons on its offers. It sees neither your e-mail, nor your phone number, nor the list of people who viewed its offers.

When you present a coupon, it sees the code and the related offer.

5. Hosting and retention

  • Site hosted by Vercel Inc..
  • Database Supabase Inc., region Union européenne (eu-west-2, Londres).
  • Account and related data: kept as long as the account exists.
  • Used coupons: kept as proof of the transaction and to allow a review.
  • After account closure, personal data is deleted; published reviews are anonymised.

6. Your rights

Under Law no. 2017-20 establishing the Digital Code of the Republic of Benin, you have rights of access, correction, erasure and objection over your data.

You may also contact Benin's Personal Data Protection Authority (APDP).

7. Cookies and local storage

We only use cookies necessary for the service.

  • Session cookie: keeps you signed in.
  • Place cookie: remembers the country and city you chose.
  • Browser storage: avoids counting the same view several times.
  • No advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
